Wound Care
Chronic non-healing wounds can impact quality of life and may lead to amputations. Our community provides specialized wound management based on best practice guidelines. This multidisciplinary approach not only treats the wound, but also the underlying disease process.
Our wound care team consists of physiatrists, WOCNs (wound, ostomy and continence nurses), and physical therapists who are supervised by CWS (certified wound specialists). They work together under the direction of the medical director and in collaboration with the resident and family to provide individualized and expert care.
Wound prevention and education are key to ongoing quality of life for our patients. Chronic disease management and family education is critical in long-term outcomes. Prevention techniques are initiated in our communities upon admission and are part of our caregiver discharge training.
We utilize the latest and most advanced evidence-based technologies, including electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and diathermy to stimulate healthy new growth and reach optimal healing.
